Boys and their Toys was the first time I exhibited my hack toys to an audience. The exhibition was for a compulsory Ryerson University Image Arts New Media student show entitled "Axis". "Axis" was a show curated by students from the Woodbridge area so they could avoid actually making a final thesis project and have an excuse to party where they could show off their cheap dresses and convince their parents they just didn't waste $30000 in tuition.
Due to the content of my toys I was subjugated to a storage closet in the photo department away from the rest of New Media student body. However due to strong word of mouth and the size of the hovel I was forced to present in I had continuous line ups down the hallway to see my work. Parents, teachers and students from various faculties came to see my toys throughout the 3 day show.
Reactions were mixed with many finding the subject matter to be dark but funny. Only one women cursed me and complained but she ended up being †he daughter of one of the Woodbridge crew who I incessantly tormented for being a complete moron. This baboon actually called visible minorities coloured people multiple times in various cultural theory classes.
In the end I was happy to end my academic career gaining top marks and graduating with honours. However those bitches who curated the show work for Apple now. This leads me to believe that a pretty mouth takes you further in this world than a competent mind. Guess they got the last laugh!
